Dr. Benjamin Boesl

Dr. Benjamin Boesl received his undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Florida in 2005. Upon graduation, he was awarded the Ebaugh Graduate Research Fellowship to continue his education at the University of Florida where he received a Florida Space Grant Research Award and a United States Patent in 2008 for his work analyzing micro and nanoscale wear and fracture mechanisms in nanocomposite systems.

Dr. Boesl received his PhD in 2009 and upon graduation he accepted a position as an ORAU post-doctorate scholar at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory in Aberdeen, MD, where his research focused on material response and design through the development of novel experimental testing procedures and the implementation of computational methods for dynamic progressive failure analysis of 3D woven composite systems for ballistic applications.

His future research will continue to focus on the development of novel experimental testing procedures using electron microscopy, materials development, and the advancement of computational tools to improve the accuracy and scope of material modeling in defense, energy, and biomedical applications.
