Graduate students must maintain satisfactory progress toward graduation by maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or better. Timelines for progress as defined in this handbook must be followed. Students may also be required to maintain proper registration commensurate with status required by fellowships, assistantships, student loans and immigration visas. It is the student’s responsibility to notify the Graduate Program Director and the Thesis/Dissertation Committee of any changes to fellowship/assistantship status. All students must register for a minimum of 1 credit to use University facilities.

Failure to maintain satisfactory progress may require the student to follow a Directed Program. A Directed Program is a strict, detailed program of study (including class work and/or research) that the student agrees to follow. Directed Programs may be established by either the MME Department Chair or the Graduate Program Director. Failure to follow a Directed Program will result in dismissal from the MME graduate program.
